What a perfect way to round out the pre- Golden Globes festivities, celebrating the heroes at NPR behind Up First, nominated for the first-ever Best Podcast award at the Globes. Leila Fadel, Steve Inskeep, Ayesha Rascoe, Martínez, and Michel Martin, along with their whole team, have worked tirelessly and bravely for so long to bring us the world’s events in a way that gives us the information we need while also providing us hope, fairness, and stability in an increasingly challenging world. Their tenacity and dedication on this show and their others at NPR make them national treasures in my book, and I’m so grateful to have had a chance to tell them how much they and their colleagues mean to me and so many others.

There may be only one winner in their category tonight, but I feel like WE are the winners because we have THEM.
